Jumperoo!

Since Lauren loves "standing" so much, we figured it was time we got her a jumperoo. We got one on Friday, and she just loves being able to stand on her own and kick her legs! We keep joking that she's going to skip crawling and go straight to walking.

Movies and babies DO mix!

Today was a fun day! A theater that we have here in Austin (Alamo Draft House), has certain days and times each week where moms can bring their babies to the theater. Four other moms and I decided to check it out today and we saw "He's Just Not That In To You." It was so great to be able to watch a movie with friends, bring your baby, and not worry if they fuss! Lauren did pretty well. She tested out her talking skills a few times, but overall was pretty good. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely do it again.

15 week update

Hard to believe that Lauren is already 3 1/2 months old! Here are some updates on what she's up to these days:
  • She can completely hold her head up at all times, including when she is laying down on her tummy. She is working on arm strength now and on pushing her whole body up when she is on her tummy (see picture below).
  • She's rolling over! Put her on her belly and she will wiggle herself over on to her back.
  • There is quite a new language developing. She loves talking! She will even mimic sounds we make.
  • She definitely has an affinity for music. She loves when daddy plays the guitar and sings to her, and when we play music and dance in front of her--she just smiles and laughs.
  • She can sleep through the night. That doesn't mean she will (there's a 50/50 chance), but at least she can!
  • She will not keep her fists out of her mouth. Everyone says it's an early sign of teething.
  • She has grown out of 3-month clothes and is in the transitional 3-6 month size (but still too small for 6 month clothes).
  • She's starting to grab things and hold them.
  • She loves "standing" when you hold her arms for balance.
  • Bath time is the best time. We have a future fish on our hands for sure!

Manipulator in the making

This sad Lauren face gets daddy wrapped around her baby finger. Right before Lauren cries, she sticks out her lower lip and gets this sad little look on her face. In its own way, it's pretty darn cute!

I really want to sit up!

Lauren is so funny...she's really trying to sit up these days. She doesn't even really come close to pulling herself in to a sitting position. But, if you lay her on her back she will pull up her legs towards her chest and pull up her neck (it looks like she's doing a stomach crunch). She loves when you put her in the sitting position, but she can't hold herself there once she's up.

It's a whole new world

I don't want to jinx myself, but I do believe that we officially have a baby that sleeps through the night! Saturday night she slept for 7 straight, uninterrupted hours, and the last two nights she did for eight hours. It's seriously amazing. I am in heaven!!!

***NEWS FLASH***

LAUREN SLEPT FOR SEVEN HOURS STRAIGHT LAST NIGHT!!!!

Note: OK, everyone wants to know if I also got seven hours of sleep. And the answer is----no. I kept anticipating her waking up. I even got a bottle ready at one point because I was sure she was about to cry for one. And, while she stirred lots and I had to get her pacifier, she never actually really woke up. Even though I didn't get to truly appreciate it, it was still a milestone!

Lauren's first party

A friend of ours has a little girl turning 4 years old and she had a princess birthday party this weekend. It was miss Lauren's very first party! Needless to say she couldn't jump in the bounce house or have cake, but it was cute to have her there and see all the other little girls running around. Scott and I just kept looking at each other and saying, that will be Lauren in a few years!

Grocery stores and Target make me laugh

In the last couple of weeks, I have very quickly figured out that all new moms, and stay at home moms, hang out at Target and the grocery store during the day. And, they're all very friendly. As an example, just the other day I was at the grocery store and had no less than 3 other moms go out of their way to come look at Lauren, ask her age, ask how I was doing, etc. It's like some sort of mom cult that I unknowingly just became a part of! What's even cuter is that if I ever see and elderly person while I am out and about with her, they definitely want to take a peek at her. It's really sweet. Everyone loves babies! I told one lady that I was having a lot of fun, she looked at my cross-eyed and said, "at this age?" like I was crazy. Too funny.

Ceiling fans are funny

Ceiling fans are now Lauren's favorite thing. I lay her on her back and she will stare at the ceiling and just giggle, kick and laugh for a good 20 minutes. I heard someone call them "ceiling toys" and it fits!
