Sunglasses - Take two

We tried the sunglasses again tonight and were given a big ole pouty face!

Park day with the dogs

The weather was so beautiful today that we decided to talk Lauren and the two pups to the park. It actually ended up being a bit windy, but Lauren got to try out her new sunglasses (she's wasn't sure what to think of them).

20 Week Update

  • Lauren loves playing with toys. She's gone from noticing them, to grabbing them. Any toy that can attach to her stroller, play mat, car seat, or her jumperoo is awesome. And if it lights up, sings/plays music, rattles, or squeaks--it's loved all that much more.
  • Now that she grabs things, everything goes straight in to her mouth
  • She is comfortably in 6 month clothes (and heading towards 9 mos rather quickly!)
  • She pretty consistently sleeps through the night. Woohoo!
  • She is sooo close to sitting up. I still prop her up, but she'll do it on her own very soon.
  • Her favorite places: her changing table, the bath tub, and in my arms
  • Her least favorite places: car seat, everywhere after about 10 minutes (she gets bored rather quickly and needs to be re-entertained)
  • First she smiled, then she laughed, now she squeals. It might be the cutest thing in the world!

Arch your back!

So Lauren has a new, not-so-fun trick. Whenever she decides she doesn't want to do something, she arches her back so extreme that she almost is in a full back bend and then she screams. For example, if she doesn't want to go in her swing, she arches her back way back, throw her arms out wildly and screams so it's impossible to put her in the swing. Car seat? Same trick. Nap time? Same trick. We have one feisty baby in charge!

Who's a big girl?

Lauren just had her 4-month pediatrician visit (even though it was more like 4 1/2 months). She got all of her measurements done and a few shots (poor thing). Her head circumference and length are average right at the 50 percentile. Coming in at 17 pounds, her weight was umm....the 97% percentile. Such a little chunky monkey! The pediatrician was thrilled with Lauren's health and spirit and just said she was a happy, healthy baby. Knowing I was also quite the chunky little one until I was about 2 or so, I think she's just taking after mamma! The pediatrician also suggested that we could begin to try feeding her rice cereal (with a spoon!) to see if she was receptive. Scott and I talked about trying this right around her 5 month birthday in 2 weeks.

Mommy & baby yoga

Yesterday Lauren & I did mommy & baby yoga. There is a yoga studio in Austin that offers this class to new moms. The room was absolutely filled with mommies and babies. Moms got to do yoga poses while babies laid on the floor in front of them, some poses incorporated babies, and one section even included baby songs and dancing with baby. It really was neat and I even got a workout--my muscles are all sore today!
