Lots of new things

I feel like Lauren is changing so quickly these days! First came the high chair. Then, this morning I gave her a sippy cup for the first time and she did great! Lauren is also trying to sit and stand all the time now. She can sit on her own for a few seconds at a time. She is just so close to mastering it. Recently she has also been able to hold herself up standing for a few moments while holding on to something like the back of the couch. I think I will have lots of fun updates and pictures to share over the next few days/weeks!

High chair!

This weekend we experimented with putting Lauren in a high chair at a restaurant. Previously, I always pretty much had to hold her because she hated being brought in to the restaurant in her car seat while we ate. However, the high chair worked great! I sort of propped her up with blankets because she is just barely sitting up on her own. She was so proud of herself to be a big girl at the table! (Note: I took a bunch of pictures but they all came out blurry because she was moving so much!)

Such a ham!

Lauren has gotten pretty good at eating her rice cereal. So much so, that she wants to help feed herself. She either grabs the spoon or the bowl while I am feeding her. It's pretty cute. But, it makes me feel like she has grown up so much! Soon she will be eating baby food, feeding herself, walking......and then poof! Off to college.

Still kind of sleeping like a baby?

Lauren has adopted the earlier bedtime. Instead of falling asleep at 10:30 or 11:0pm like she has the past few months, all week she has been falling asleep between 8:00 and 9:00pm. Great, except the last few mornings she has started waking up at 6:15 (instead of her previous 7:30 or 8:00am). Not loving that. Oh well, perhaps I give it a few more days and it changes again! Ha.

Sleeping like a baby

OK, maybe now I know what the expression, "sleeping like a baby" means. The first few months it does not apply at all, but now we're starting to get somewhere. Lauren went to sleep last night at 7:30pm and woke up at 8am this morning. Seriously! Where the holy heck did that come from? Who knows, but I am NOT complaining--I am jumping for joy!

Happy messy Easter!

We decided to give Lauren her very first food today! We started her on rice cereal via spoon. At first, she wasn't sure what to think and wasn't very happy about it, but we tried again a few minutes later and she gobbled it up! In the end it was all over her face from her eyebrows to her chin. It was pretty darn cute!

Baby in a basket

I got this genius idea to put Lauren in an Easter basket for Easter. I tried to take some pics of her in it yesterday and she didn't think it was the best I idea that I have had. I love the look on her face in this picture...it's like, "yeah, great idea mom."

Holding the bottle

Lauren has been working on a new "trick" for the past week or two. When she's laying down, she holds her bottle. From about 3 months on, she always held her bottle while I was holding it, but now she wants to do it on her own. It's pretty cute. She can't tip it back when it gets to the end, and she can't hold it when she's sitting up, but if she's laying down you can hand her the bottle and she'll take it!

Happy 5 Month Birthday!

So hard to believe that Lauren is 5 months old today. Man, the time sure does fly! We were out at some stores today and felt that Lauren needed her first pair of cowgirl boots. They are a little big still, but here she is trying them on!

Another milestone

This week Lauren hit another mini-milestone. She rolled over from her back to her stomach. She had already rolled over front to back a while ago, but this was the first time she had done it in the opposite direction. Pretty cute!

Happy Wednesday

Lauren's schedule has been crazy lately. It seems to change every day. Her awake times are longer and her nap schedule is shifting. She is also wanting to eat more. I can't seem to predict her patterns, so hopefully she will find her new schedule soon so I can plan our days better! I love the phrase "babies make moms liars" because every time you say they are going to do something, they switch it up on ya!
